apparently the accessories book doesn't state year info, but the kit is only designed to work with 2015 models, seems pretty strange they would offer the kit only to 2015 and newer units especially since dealers that got sparks early last year had them on the computer and some accidentally activated the Dess system on the computer, so the unit has some capability of Dess, dealers were told not to activate the system because it couldn't be turned off again and at the time meant replacing the ecm, so maybe like xdrain said there might be a "work around" for it, maybe if enough people complain to Brp they will include 2014 units in a revision...

I would love this feature.

I have a pair of 3-ups with IBR, and am adding depth finders and VTS this year. Would love to add DESS keys as well...
I am having it installed on my 2014 Spark by a BRP dealer here in Sweden today.

I have a call in to my dealer about it. I'll report back here what I learn...
BAD NEWS..

Wen’t to pick up the Spark from the dealer today and they were not able to marrie the D.E.S.S to the central module.

They were initially told by BRP that it could be done by changing the harness but is was a no go.

Seems we have to live with the "old" system. I am a bit disappointed!

This breaks my heart.
So what is with the DESS system. My friends have some older skis with them and they do nothing but complain about it. Expensive to replace ,not starting, stalling, have to take to dealer to program. Installing a waterproof atv key in the cranking circuit seems like a cheap simple and more reliable solution.
One of the things I was happy about was not having that crap system on my 2014's

Right on, the DESS is a joke and a major problem with older SeaDoo models.
So I want to keep my sparks on the water this year at a marina. Any anti-theft advice? I'm tired of launching every time I want to ride, it takes me an hour to get them and get them in the water and park the car, and then another hour at the end. If I keep them in the water, I save 40 minutes off of each end, and get an extra 80 minutes to ride. This makes it so much easier to ride after work on week nights...

There are two wires going to the magnetic switch. You could tap into one of those wires and put a hidden switch somewhere. That way, you can flip the switch and no matter what, it wont start.

I guess this is what I'll do.
