Anyone have any experience with Solas Impeller and Wear Ring?

Put one in this weekend and ran great. Noticed much better performance off the line and lower engine RPMs over all. Im guessing with lower engine RPMs im sacrificing top speed, but i have also noticed people posting they have experienced gain in top speed. Not really to worried about extra MPH but now im slightly paranoid if something is off in my configuration.

I have only tested top speed and rpms with a passenger. Think i got 53 mph at 7920. Stock prop and wear ring i got a glimt of 55 mph once at around 8040.
Acceleration is alot better though, with a just broken in spark(stock prop and ring), i could get it to jump out of the water with some effort. Now i jump straight out of the water 3-4 times before getting hooked up.

Patrick,

That is awesome. I only was hitting about 49-50mph at about 7820 rpms. Makes me think somethings off. The RPM drop alone is awesome, although i was hoping for a little more top speed for those quick fixes of high speeds. Didf you do anything special with yours or just pop them in and go?

Are you using GPS to verify speeds?

I was able to hit about 51-52 MPH on my stock 90hp Spark, I only weigh around 165ish lbs. I just ordered a Solas 12/17 prop, so looking forward to the slight drop in RPM, and better powerband. I don't think you really gain any "top speed"

Yeah i believe so. Havent messed with MPH configuration yet. Is there a way to set it differently? Im assuming GPS could cause some inaccuracies. That makes me feel better. Im new to all this so its always good to hear others experiences.

Did nothing with the prop. Do you have IBR on your ski? If u have without ibr, the speed is calculated based on your rpm. With IBR the speed is by satelite.

Rented a none IBR ski a while ago, did a wheelie with high rpms, it said that i was going like 35mph when i realley just did like 5 mph.

Some GPS's are on point, even my phone's GPS does a good job at tracking speed, just have to make sure you have a solid data connection.
The spark speedo just works off your rpm then the ECU just has a guessament what speed you should be doing if everything is in a straight line

So if you want true GPS is the way to go

Actually only the 60hp spark uses rpm for speed. All IBR models have built in GPS and is 100% accurate.

Just learnt something thanks
at least you get some extra goodies for the price difference between getting a 60hp and a 90hp
;)

I guess they use gps because IBR relies heavily on vehicle speed for activation of the different modes. So they must think accuracy is important.

Since I have a 60hp vtech tuned to 90hp, does that mean my ski does not have GPS and uses rpms to determine speed?

I was under the impression the only difference was the tune, if I have a substandard speedometer too that is unfortunate.

I dont think thats right. The ski i rented was a 90 hp and as i said: when i was doing a wheelie with high rpms it said i was going 35mph when i really just did 5 mph

Did it have IBR? All IBR models use GPS. You will see a satellite icon in the cluster telling you it is using satellites for speed.

It didn't have ibr. I know about the satelite icon, but i didnt check...

I have a 2014 90 HP Spark. I just had a Solas 12/17 impeller installed, and a new stock wear ring. Before the install the highest top speed I would see was 50-51, As claimed it did pick up 1 MPH so now I see 52 MPH. This was over the weekend on rather choppy water as well. I weigh 165lbs.
