It seems that Auto Evolution is just now talking about what we here at the Sea-Doo Spark forum have known for a while: the Sea-Doo Spark is an awesome, budget-friendly jet-ski. Though the Spark makes an odd Christmas gift for those of us who live in the Northern hemisphere, it is nevertheless a great deal.

Auto Evolution talks about how the Spark project started development in 2006, and that the Rotax 900 ACE engine in 60 hp and 90 hp versions were jointly developed for snowmobiles.

Here are some pictures and a link to their article.

yea makes sense the ROTAX was in dev for sleds as well. before BRP made sea doos they made ski doos and figured they could simply transfer the concept to water...
Well it seems to have worked pretty well for them. It's nice to see some media coverage of the Spark, Makes me feel like it actually is cheap, instead of just hearing it from Sea-Doo itself.

Go Pro videoing riding the Spark would be lots of fun. I am thinking about getting one of those cameras.

Makes sense, not that much of a transition, probably easier to build PWC's than it is to build snow mobiles
O for sure. Sea-Doo must be elated. The Spark is way less expensive to build than a snowmobile, and they already had the snowmobile engine on hand.

It also must be a big deal if autoevolution is reporting on it. I think they usually stick to cars and motorcycles.
