dealer screwed my ecm

last year my spark was leaking oil in the hull. i had the ski programmed with vtech and put it back to stock with no problems before i brought it back to the dealer for the warranty work. when i got the ski back they said i lost the rear oil seal they also asked if i had it tuned. i said no and brought the ski home. when i went to hook my vtech back up it wouldn't power on. i thought it was the programmer so i sent it back to get it fixed. when i got it back it still wouldnt power on when connected to the ski. instead of sending it away again a bought a brand new 1. when i hooked the new one up... same thing no power. brought the ski back to the dealer and asked them to hook it up to their computer which they did and said they could read it. my buddy just bought a 2015 spark and ask if i could hook up my vtech to it just to see if it worked. and sure enough it powered on. i tuned his ski perfect but it still doesn't work on mine.

i'm pissed 60hp sucks now that i'm used to the 110hp and i feel like burning it if i can't get the vtech to work. i checked all the fuses and all are fine.

does anyone know how this could happen or how to fix it

I wonder if it's possible for them to lock it out?
also they can tell if your spark is tuned or not even if you remove the tune. when i asked them to hook up my spark to there computer i could see graphs on how long the ski was at certain rpm's how for how long. so if you had a 60hp with a factory rev limiter of around 7000rpm+ and they see you were in the 8000rpm+ they know something is up.

but i wish i knew how they done it. the vtech was working when i dropped the ski off and didn't when i picked it up. but still works on my buddies ski.

is it something done to the ecm its self or just a wire. i had the top deck off and couldn't find anything
First thing I would do is look at the connectors and make sure there aren't any bent pins or anything that could cause it to not power up. Then I'd look at the back side of the connector to make sure there aren't any loose pins or wires that somehow came loose from the connector.

If it wasn't a simple hardware issue I would then try bringing it to a different dealer and throw a line at them like "I brought my jet ski in for warranty work at a different dealer and they told me they had to re flash the computer and now it isn't working right. I don't trust them to touch my Spark again, can you guys try re flashing it for me to see if I can get it back to normal?"

Or if Sea Doo found a way to block the V-tech programmer you might want to contact V-tech directly and let them try to figure it out. If it's going to hurt their business I'm sure they would be interested in proactively solving the problem before they have several customers with programmers that no longer work.
first when you connect the map tuner you should get some display ??? on the tuner if not check cable pins etc

If you get a display some times the dealer update the firmware in the ecu the tuner will give a blocked message this is a safty thing by Vtech to stop a incompatibly issues if that's the case contact Vtech and they will update your files for you.
Considering it worked on your buddy ski I would be thinking it maybe a loose connection on your ski.

it doesn't power on at all when connected to the ski. i checked the plug and all the pins seem fine. but the dealer was able to hook it up to there computer and read the ecm fine. i traced all the wires and that seems fine. i'm stumped. what should the power output be on the ecm plug be anyone know?
Burn it like you said.lol.
Buy a new one only money .

So other than your vtech flash not working the machine is working as it should? I don't think the dealers have the capability to lock out reflashs, I think I would be talking to Vtech.
i found the problem. the pink wire on the ecm plug was reading 0 volts. and the pin inside the plug was a loose. when i went to haul on the wire it came out with ease. wire looked cut there where no copper wires frayed. looked like a clean cut. don't know it happened by itself or someone done it. funny thing is when the dealer hooked it up do there computer it worked fine and the vtech didn't. could be the computer was a pc and had its own power source. but safe to say tune is staying on and not coming off
