Do it yourself seminar

I am interested in putting together a one day seminar in the fall for people like myself interested in doing their own maintenance. I would like to hire a very good mechanic to teach. Interested in covering issues like winterization, general maintenance, oil changes, impeller change , ibr removal etc. I live on the shoreline in Ct. ,50 miles from the George Washington Bridge, right off 95 . If others in striking distance are similarly interested please respond. Whatever minimal cost might be involved it would be well worth it to avoid shop maintenance costs. I know many people have questioned whether they can do the work themselves.from all I understand the warranty is valid as long as the work is done ,even if you do it yourself and you document. When I hear stories of people paying $400 to have a wear ring changed, I have no intentions of putting my self in the hands of the dealerships for repair or maintenance. I have always found that when I do it myself it's done right and my goal here is to learn how.

An easier more cost-effective way might be to hire a pro and video tape segments that could put on a cd for sale. Even better would be for people to post vids on youtube for free.
Great idea. We can do that as well for people not in range. But I would like to do this with a group and even have several Sparks there to work on . This fall would be a good time to get the skis winterized and I know I want to change out the impeller as well. For less than the cost of having the dealer do the work , people could get it done and know how to do it yourself in the future.

It's a terrific idea Mark! I am too far away to help you with it (different country and all), but hopefully those closer will jump on the bandwagon!
I'll do it, just fly me out there and I'll teach the class on impeller change, ibr removal, and oil changes. I got nothing for winterization as I live in Florida and we dont know what winter is :)

I live in West long island. Possibly get a upper east coast meet and ride?

Your not that far. Would the DIY seminar interest you? Are you north shore or south shore?
Does sound like a good idea, but have we checked if this already exists on Youtube?

Doing a little video series that explains basic maintenance to people and putting that on YouTube would be a fun project.
yes but there is a HUGE difference between watching youtube videos or a CD series vs hands on work with one on one time with the expert. There is no substitute for practical experience when it comes to working on your gear, there is also no substitute for being able to ask questions in a face to face environment...

I agree and that's why I would like to find 3 or more people interested and maybe bringing their Sparks. We could do this in the fall for less than the cost of winterizing by a dealer and walk away with much more.
Great idea hopefully you guys arrange everything and get on it.
