I Bought The Last 2014 Spark In Miami Yesterday... Here Is How It Went...

As of 5/31/14 I am now a proud owner of a seadoo spark 3up loaded, yellow, or I guess they call it “ pineapple “ . I did not need it loaded but it was the very last one they had and all the other dealers in Miami are sold out until November when next year's model comes out. After test driving the 2up and 3 up at a Seadoo test drive event I knew right away I wanted the 3up. The 2up felt unstable, like I would tip over and very hard to maneuver. The 3up felt just right. Holy sticker shock at the final price with all the (for the most part unexpected charges added on) Including: Sales tax on the wave runner itself, 2% tax on my total for using a credit card, Assembly Fee, Handling Fee, Shipping Fee, Inspection Fee, Registration Fee, Registration Filing Surcharge. It basically added on about $1,000 more than expected. I walked out the door paying about $9,500 when I was expecting to walk out of their paying about $7,500. I was not too happy they charged charged $500 assembly when they said it was fully uploaded because it came assembled but they said something about having to further assemble it. Eck. I also had to pay $130 for the flush kit with install. I planned on doing it myself but they said the install is easy to do yourself if there is no IBR but if there is you have to take a lot apart. Doh! They said after 10 hrs of breaking it in there is a mandatory servicing to keep the warranty valid. $200 there and $150 to pick up and then drop it back off at themarina. (I don't have a car or trailer) I said just put it all together and I'll pay for it now so ya like $9.5k I should have taken a xanax before I went. I couldn't talk him down because there were 4 people waiting for me to not say " I'll take it " last night my dealer said 5 want it including you and who ever gets here first tomorrow gets it. I was first in line and as soon as I said I'll take it the others left. So he wasn't ****ting me about that. He said he was sorry he couldn't come down on the price at all due to the high demand. So I grit my teeth and handed him my credit card who was giving me the finger on it's way over. Delivery Tuesday to my marina spot which took forever to get. On a positively note. . They already spray fluid film in for you and at the 10 hr servicing they open the whole thing up and fluid film it all so that's good and I ordered fluid film for nothing . Oh well. I’m excited, I have 2 life jackets, my emergency paddle, registration sticker numbers bought, fluid film, salt away and cover for it all purchased or ordered and I’m excited. Luckily after the first mandatory servicing it mainly just needs an oil change after every 50 hours which I can do myself. So that’s my purchasing story. I’m posting it for potential spark buyers in other threads so if you see it more than once, sorry about that.

I really would passed, they downright LIED to you about several items, other FL shoppers be warned!
Oh I know. As the sales person went over each item I kept giving him the " seriously ?! " look and he kept saying he can't come down on the price.

Truth is supply and demand and instead of saying hey its $1,000 more than MSRP because these are so hot, they tried to make it up in other areas. At least the 2% credit card fee was on the MSRP and not all their BS add on charges.

I just didn't want to wait until November , nor would I know if I could get a marina spot for sure then. I had to call daily for 3 months for one of the 75 PWC spots at the marina to open near me ( no waiting list ) Its Miami, its summer, I'm itching, whatever I'll pay more, I will however pout about it.

But yes, shoppers be warned. It's a good idea to bring a friend with you who is a no bullshit, mouthy kind of person because 2 against one on bringing down a price helps but... with people all waiting in line they can also pretty much be like F U, do you want it or not, if not step aside.

So anyway... Tuesday... its on :)

They're giving you a lot of bull about mandatory service as well. Find a reputable dealer to service who's bills you can trust. Read the manual and you'll see the mandatory oil service is at 100 hours or 1 year. That's when Sea Doo requires an oil change. There are other items to be inspected at 50 hours.
The market is very high for these in south florida right now, a buddy of mine recently tried to pick one up, did almost all of the paperwork to find out someone came in and scooped it up before he could get there. These dealers are making a killing off the spark market

I am not sure if I should say congrats. Glad to hear you got one. Break in is only 5hrs. I am bringing mine in at 25hrs for the service to make sure everything is ok. With all the Florida people getting on here we really should have a meet up.

Let's plan one! I'll start a thread in the meets sections

I made a thread in the general discussion forum for miami locals :) i didnt know there was a meet section. i guess i skimmed the topics too quick lol

Ya mark i heard the same on another message board. apparently the sales guy wasnt versed in knowing how long break in time or how long before first servicing. also im contacting BRP tomorrow and if the dealership or a certified BRP tech doesnt have to do the first servicing im getting a refund for the $444 I prepaid for it and will have the guys at the marina do it.
Riva in pompano has three on their sales floor.... I would assume they are for sale. White 2up, pink 3 up, and don't remember but I think third is yellow and not sure it's details. I was in a hurry trying to get a pair of gloves to keep my hand from being chaffed raw from the handle bars before a ride.
wow im surprised. it must be the last of them. my dealership got their last 4 in 2 days ago and i got the last one yesterday.
