Low Power / Check Engine Symbol

Hi All -
I have a 2014 Spark 60HP 2up w/16 hrs
I put in in the water this weekend for the summer.
I'm having an issue when running at high rpm that feels like a cylinder is cutting out. It comes and goes intermittently. This afternoon it did it to a point that a check engine symbol / warning came on.
It happened once last year when I first got it and the dealer said I picked up a weed. I checked for that when I put on on the lift and could not see anything in the intake. Decided not to run it anymore due to the warning. It did not seem like it was overheating.
Anyone else have this issue?
Thanks in advance for reply's

Old/Bad gas maybe? Maybe one of your spark plugs is fouled?

New gas this year. The problem is intermitent, and only at WOT / high rpm.
Runs fine in the lower 75% if the RPM range.

Like SeaDood said it could be a bad plug, even though it runs at idle and lower speeds normally, could be a bad ignition coil, or fuel injector, if it brought up a fault then you should get it scanned, that could help in diagnosing it rather than pulling the top off to put plugs in it and put the top back on again just to have it do the same thing again because of an intermittent ignition coil for example.
Spoke with my dealer said to check for weeds again......
Saturday (rain or shine) I'll check the battery connections and the main harness connection, then take it for a ride.
Does anyone know if/when a check engine light comes on if it will reset if the condition does not exist anymore?
OK, checked battery connections, main harness connection, Oil Level and NEW fuel. Took for a ride and the "check engine " went away...... , the problem still exists!
Guess I have to take it to the dealer and start replacing parts till it's fixed! VERY SAD that no-one knows what it is...... Including tech service at Seadoo..... They all say they have NEVER seen this condition before..... I'm calling BS to that.... too many of these things have been sold with TOO many problems. Should have stayed with Yamaha.... next time I know better.

How would they know what it is without digging into it? Anyone here can armchair the issue, but the only person who will know for sure is the person who digs into it.

Good point.

That's what they should be doing, diagnosing the issue and if they can't do it within reasonable time, take the loss and do what's right for the owner; buy back, replacement sea-doo, etc.
i would be pulling it apart your self and checking if any water in the coilpacks where the connect to the plug, exact same thing happened to my mates ford turbo ute ran fine untill boost and missed like a dog, was ran for to long in the end anyway and ****** the coil, and had to buy 6 new ones because could not get them by them selfs!
Hi DJF, I know this post is old, so I'm hoping you're still monitoring the forum. Did you ever find out what the problem was with your Spark? I have a 2015 and 2016 that both ran fine the end of last season, both were winterized and garaged over the winter, and the first outing this year, the 2016 ran fine, but the 2015 did the exactly the same thing yours was doing. I took it to the dealer and they charged me $200 for diagnostics, only to tell me it wasn't throwing any codes, so there was nothing they could do. Great. So, I've ordered a new fuel filter, plugs, and coils to see of that remedies the situation. Any advice you have?
Hello, this is DJF, for whatever reason I had to re-register with a new name.
Did you ever get your issue solved? Mine is doing the same thing again! VERY Frustrating!
I REALY like the little spark but I just cant keep having these issues...................

Hi have you got this sorted I’m in same situation I have been having this same issue I just read through, my ski has just been at the dealer, it has been serviced and on the computer and he can’t find a fault and it’s till going but engine light has went out. He said it could be fuel pump or fuel injector issue so I am not sure what to do. It’s frustrating!

Hi, Yes it's running good again. I took off the top and changed the spark plugs. 2 of them looked great, but one was a bit different, so I assume it was fouled or failed. Can't really tell with out taking the plug apart
I plan to change the plugs every year.
Thanks
Don
