Getting it tomorrow Suppose to be 40 degrees celsius here in Ottawa, Ontario. Will be enjoying the water!

Read the manual regarding break-in.
As soon as it is normal op temps - do several full throttle accelerations to seat the rings properly.

Other owners may have different opinions.

quick question, is it normal then even when I put the key in, not pressing the stop/start button, I don't get any gauges turning on.

My 155 wake, as soon as you put the key in, the gauges worked, but then you pressed on the button to start the engine.

correct no gauges will light up till you press start/stop button

How long do you guys let it idle for at the dock before shifting to Forward?

No time at all is necessary. There is no difference on the engine in neutral or forward. Instead of directing the thrust straight back in forward it is directed down. You can shift it in forward whenever you like.

How long do you guys let it idle for at the dock before shifting to Forward?

I usually do a few figure 8's in front of the dock to let it warm up and give me a chance to check things. (are there any boats coming; is the dog going to jump off the dock after me; are there any spiders crawling out from under the handlebars?)


You will notice that at idle you will have some forward motion. If you pull the iBR it'll go into reverse, then pull it again and it'll go into neutral and stay until you give it some gas.


Have you tried Sport Mode yet?

I have not tried the sport mode since I have only 2.5 hours on it.


Will only use sport mode after the 10 hours are completed. I want it to last forever and a proper break-in is important.

Proper break in is to ride it like you stole it. Helps seat the the Rings in the engine better. Better seated rings means less oil burned, less power loss, and a more efficient engine. Sport more and some full throttle pulls with lots of throttle variation is a good way to break in the engine.

10 hours? I thought it was 5? I did some full throttle during breakin but I never held the throttle or rpm in a single place for more than 10 seconds during my entire breakin. Just very throttle and rpm for the entire time and you'll be fine. 8 hours on mine now, so full throttle runs to determine top speed have been attempted. 47 is all i got with my heavy a$$

manual says 5, my dealer said 10.
I ran it in for 5 and did my own oil change at 10.

The old engine break in method forum debate. I can't even fathom the number of times I have read it on various powersports forums!!!

Read the "Mototune" method then decide for yourself. I'm not advocating either way.

With today's modern engines breakin is pretty well a thing of the past. I've been an engine specialist for an automotive dealer for 14 years. I've seen all forms of breakins and have seen no difference as far as longevity.
