New Site Upgrade and Look

Hello Everyone,

We're proud to announce that the new site look and feel has been completed for SeaDooSpark.org! Our designers and software engineers have been hard at work on this for several months. It's designed to modernize the site, make it easier to use, and to make it more attractive to new members and guests that visit SeaDooSpark.org.

The forum software we use, vBulletin, by default is not designed to be friendly to the eyes or to look modern. We went down to the nuts and bolts of the forum software and templates, and have done a ground up approach. There are several things you will notice now that the new design is live.

1) The site should be significantly faster.

We have applied every modern technique to speed up page load and tested with all modern browsers. We want the forum to be extremely fast and easy to use.

2) The site will work much better in mobile and tablet views

We've started applying responsive design, and have designed and tested against android and iPhone devices, Android tablets, and iPads. If you are sitting at your desk or on your couch, or just on your phone, the site will work much better than it did before, and load fast. We are still working on improving the experience even further in the months to come, but we wanted to launch this as quickly as we could.

3) The homepage is bright, crisp and clean.

We wanted the first page users saw to look beautiful, so that when a new guest arrives and is debating whether to join SeaDooSpark.org, they see a beautiful doorway, and they walk right in.

4) Users will be able to register with Facebook, Twitter or Google+

5) The side bar can be hidden in your user options.

Click on my profile / user cp at the top right.

- click on edit your details on the left.
- Look for Show Sidebar on Forum Pages under Additional Information.
- Click disable and save.

We hope you enjoy it, and if you have any questions on the design, please let us know, feedback is appreciated.

If there are any issues you see. Post them up here and we will get them worked out.

Thanks,
-your SeaDooSpark.org Team.

I've had to reduce my screen size by 10% to get the forum page to lay out correctly. Texts and graphics were overlaying each other. I use Chrome.
Thumbnails are not working in chrome on win7.
Also, there does not appear to be a wayt to search the forums any more. I am guessing the tools menu option should be a drop down. Well, not in chrome. Also, embedded external links are not working in chrome.

Also, it does not appear to correctly mark the thread I have read as read anymore.
Can you try loading it on a different browser, and sending us screenshots of the issues?

Thanks

It works for me in firefox, but I hate firefox. I'll show some screenshots later today.
yea search is gone and tools menu does not work. As well certain text is overly large, Forum column in the active topics section for instance is MASSIVE!

@RobNH - are you able to see this search option in the upper right corner? You should be able to drop down to view the Vb search for the site.

See above post for search.

Let me know if you can grab a screen shot of the improper font formatting, I have been seeing it here and there also.

Hey guys,

Are you still having these problems? If so please let me know, the more info the better so I can test, reproduce, and report it to the team. Things I need to know, mobile/desktop, device, OS, browser, link.

Thanks

Jeff
Attachment pics are working. I can see the search box in the upper right now. Just need to get it properly updating the most recently read post correctly. For example, I licked on the little icone that should bring me to the first unread post in this thread, and I was brought to post #10 . Considering I also made posts #11 and #13 , I would expect to be brought to post 14 to begin reading this thread, not #10 .

desktop chrome, win7.

Hmm, just tested and seems to be working correctly for me on the same setup. Might just be a weird glitch. Let me know if it keeps happening over the next week or so.

Jeff
I am still getting the problem with it keeping track of which posts are the most recent read.

This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
