After only 4 hours of riding and enjoying the brand new Sparks we only purchased in may, our summer is over.

Apparently Seadoo used us all as guinea pigs and now problems have arisen with the steering column breaking off in rough water.

Our dealer has 7 sparks ahead of to be repaired and they are 2 hours away from where we ride.

So basically at this late date in summer I am not hopeful we will be riding for the rest of summer! Our dealer does not even have the parts yet!

I am so disgusted but should not be surprised. The Sparks are built cheaply, sell cheaply and even the keys and plugs are cheap plastic!

We should have saved our money and bought a REAL Jet ski! Anyone else here get your letters yet cancelling your summer?????

Um, yeah got my letter but it's not canceling my fun. Everything has recalls..cars, toys, appliances ect ect. It is not the end of the world and does not make it a bad product. I have 19hrs of hard riding on my ski and no problem with anything. So I will be riding my ski until I hit the 25hr mark for my first service and then bring it in then. If they don't have parts available I will ride the ski until they get it in.
Where do you ride? A lake or ocean?

lol relax i have 25hours on mine and got the recall notice just be more careful when you are riding my bars haven't busted yet and i have been riding really hard
Of course I am not going to ride it!! If it breaks I can not sue them as I was notified of the recall.

My husband is taking them both for service Monday but the issue is when we get them back and if I now trust them after only two months and already in the shop!!

I won;t take a chance with my safety. They are dangerous! otherwise they would not have been recalled.

Don't ride them. Sell them. Then go away.

I've been having trouble finding a Spark. Are your deadly Sparks 3 ups by chance bc I will gladly assume the risk and take them off your hands.

Just thinking about it makes me want to ride one flat out with Kenny Loggins' "Danger Zone" blaring in the background.

Seriously though, I understand the disappointment and frustration but try and keep things in perspective. This is the first run of a brand new model using new composites. There is an inherent risk in being an early adopter.

Maybe you should be cautious and not ride them before they are repaired, but afterwards I think you would be silly to continue to not ride them because you don't trust them. To each their own, but there is inherent risk when you do any activity like ride a jet ski. Just be as safe as you can, but don't totally deprive yourself of any enjoyment in the name of safety.

Paula, at least you got 25 hours on yours. I've been waiting since I agreed to purchase them at the end of March , now they are sitting at the dealers 8 hours west of here on the trailer but can't be release because of the recall. I called today and they have NO information NO timeline and NO information from BRP about when parts will be available or when I can come and pick them up! And I haven't even SEEN them yet, never mind got to ride one, and I started paying for them two weeks ago, I was 16 hours from picking them up. I may get them in time to winterized them and run out 7 months of warranty before I can even ride them, not a happy camper

I got my notice yesterday- The dealer called this morning and said, "Sarge we got a steering column with your name on it!" I brought the ski over and picked up a couple hours later?
Summer Over? Its only July and in Connecticut the water stays very warm till Mid October and I ski till Mid October. Some of the best skiing is After labor day!!!

Ok...everything aside....... Read the forum instead of coming on here and complaining about the ski. You will find allot of people have had no problems what so ever with the ski. From the sounds of it, you don't ride nearly as hard as myself or others on here that have really put it to the test and I got my letter saying the bars might break. Relax, enjoy the ski. and most of all READ the other threads about the ski and how much fun it is. Just might put your mind at ease.
