I just looked up the cost of a replacement engine to use for development but I can buy a new Spark for 30% less. Hopefully no one needs to purchase a new engine anytime soon. Because you might as well part out your ski and buy a new Spark instead.

You could make a business out of that. Just buy a Spark and then take out the engine and sell it to people for more than the Spark but less than what the engine is selling on the market. Maybe it'll work.

That is pretty crazy though. Never really understood how pricing like this makes any sense.

makes sense sort of, depending on who you are. For seadoo it actually make buckets of sense. Blow your engine, don't fix it, buy another one... Gooses their production and sales numbers won't be by much, but its all relevant...

but isn't SBT just basically an exchange service for refurbished engines? I'm sure BRP will bring the cost down eventually, but they're the only game in town as of now...

I wonder how much it costs Seadoo to buy the engine from the manufacturer. They must get a hugely discounted price to be able to still make a profit and sell the Spark for less money than the engine is sold for on the market.

Yes..but with vtech alone blowing 7 motors already to make their turbo kit, I'm sure they probably have a big head start before any of us have issues (***crossing fingers***)

if they really pay anything near that number.. well then.. they sure dont make much off these sparks
