Take the deck off. Its easy. Spray everything with silcone. Inside and pump. Wash it down with fresh water inside every time you use it. You can mist a bit in the engine hatch every few rides. You want to keep everything inside slightly wet looking with silcone. Make sure you cover the footwells with a rag. Even a small bit of silicone overspray will make them slippery.

I've only ever ridden in salt water so I've never contemplated there is a maintenance difference. I guess with fresh water you can ride the thing hard and put away wet?
