Hello Guys,

I was putting my top deck back on and over-tightened two of the screws that dig into the colored plastic part of the ski . Is there a mod, maybe some kind of insert for those screws to remedy this? Has this happened to anyone else?

Thanks

You could just drill it right through the bottom and install a longer screw with a washer and nut like what is on the side of the hull holding the top deck on.

That is why you need to use a torque drives that you can set the amount of torque. Isn't there a plastic plug insert that you are actually screwing into that is replaceable?

I think this is the part number 291003793
This was it! Verified with my local dealer, ordered online for $1.99 each plus shipping. Thank you guys!

From the Service Manual:

Hull Thread Repair

In the event that proper torque on screws threaded into the hull cannot be applied, a brass insert can be installed.

BRASS INSERT 1. Cut end

The new insert is threaded and will not accept the old self-tapping screw. A replacement M6 X 20 screw must be used with the brass insert.

PARTS TO BE INSTALLED

PART PART NUMBER

Brass insert 293 450 345

M6 X 20 screw 250 000 628

I have found the BPR website woefully inadequate. It is like they make it hard on you to buy anything. I need the two parts mentioned - past mechanic stripped some of the bolt holes. Where is a good place to buy parts? A place that is easily searchable.

I have been curious about this as well.

I can't find the page in the manual that talks about this.

I looked up some parts:
295 501 139 Brass insert screw kit, does anyone know how many parts come in this kit?. I have searched the Internet and can't find the answer
293 450 345 Brass insert
250 000 628 M6 x 20 screw
291 003 793 Plastic insert, I never actually looked for or at these when my top was off last.

In the past, I've taken the top off of my 2015 2UP to install the manual reverse and another time to install the depth finder. No problems! Last summer, my Spark started leaking from one of those metal strips on the bottom. BIG problem because the engine had to come out! Luckily it was under warranty! But the dealer made a mess of things (a big mess), which is a long story that I should tell some day. Anyway, I now have some of those threaded screws that spin thanks to the uncaring dealership.

According to some of the BRP drawings, there are 13 of those plastic inserts.

So it seems like maybe you could replace some or all of the plastic inserts and reuse the same screws OR put in a brass insert and use new M6 x 20 screws. I wonder if the kit handles all 13 and if Sea Doo thinks that this is the better way to go?. I also wonder about the torque.

I guess I'm looking for some more information so I could order some parts BEFORE I take the top off.

Thanks ahead of time!
