hello
can anyone recommend a great Synthetic oil other than seadoo`s brand
or is $40 a good price for a filter and oil??
Considering I'll change the oil/filter just once a year, I'll splurge on the Sea-Doo XPS full synthetic oil and Sea-Doo filter. While I'm sure the XPS branded items are a few bucks more than something else, it's a small expense I'll pay to be sure the specs meet Rotax engineers' recommendations. Same with my Yamaha using their branded preventative maintenance items.

I buy a real oil filter from a local dealer, your dealer should sell just you the filter.
I use as recommended in the manual

engine oil is not available, use
5W40 or 10W40 API SERVICE SN synthetic oil

NOTE the (SN) is the quality of the oil so have a good look around as there are lots oil out there that have the specs but not the rating

After going through SEA-DOO's technical training years ago and seeing how much development time and research they put into their 2-stroke oils to make sure they were one of the best; I'd highly recommend purchasing SEA-DOO/BRP oil. If you had any idea how much time and money BRP spends testing their oils with all of their engines, you would be amazed. I'm sure a lot of other manufactures do the same. But is it really worth trying to save a few dollars when you only really have to change it once a year. Plus you only need to buy 3 quarts.
