Hey guys. I'm hoping to do my own maintenance on my ski but e-mailing around to the different places in my area to see what they charge for basic things.

If you have been charged for certain things and/or received a quote for certain things and want to share, post it here.

Geeze! I heard this was fairly simple, like people doing it on the beach in about 30 min. LOL.

Yeah in my opinion it is an easy fix...about an hour and I've never worked on a jetski before. My 2 up IBR ski had about 6 hours on it and I decided to check the wear ring to see if there were any issues with it. There was scuffing and light grooves but no cracks so I have used carnauba wax in the grooves to restore the smooth finish as it was when new. I am posting another review re the wear ring and how I have attempted to minimise the chances of damage happening. The other post is in Troubleshooting BTW

Hi Straight...re that quote...are they just plucking figures out of thin air? Cos if you take 2.5 hours at $115 that comes to $287.50, plus the wear ring. If I wasn't on the other side of the world I'd do it for free!! Come on you guys in Miami is there any chivalry still alive?

I know right. I'm sure chivalry may still be alive in some hidden corner of Miami, however it many not be in English lol. My plan is to learn to fix things myself & if I can't get a friend to help me and take them out to a nice dinner in return LOL! A $50 steak would still cost less than mechanic fees

Okay so a 2nd place got back to me. I was asking each place, do they come out and do on site work, if not do they pick up and deliver the ski and how much and last how much to replace a wear ring and how much more if I also have an impeller replaced.Again I want to DIY my work but getting prices for the **** of it.

So I emailed them back for the pricing I originally asked for, Pick up and delivery is the same as my dealership.

LOL @ machine to remove wear ring and propeller. Also its called an impeller on skis right? I'm thinking these places don't know a whole lot or like to lie.

You could always jump on the 4tec section of greenhulk and ask of a good mechanic/shop in ur area. Tons of good advice there too.

If i were you i'd really try to do this myself if possible. You just need put down some time and note how to put it back together again.
Also you'll need some wrenches. You don't need to remove the impeller from the pump housing...

JohnSWE - I plan on it, I'm just pricing all the local spots to see what they are charging for shitz n gigglez and am wondering if there is a major price difference from what people are quoted/paying in other parts of the country. I'm wondering if it varies as much as dog tag licenses LOL!

Miami - 1 yr dog tag license $33, If you're a day late $300 fine, you don't pay it for a long time, lean on your house
Florida Keys - 3 Yr dog License $15
Pennsylvania - Lifetime dog license $20
