I was able to do some testing last night with a couple of the V-Tech tunes and I thought I would share the information.

Testing was done on a completely stock HO Spark besides the V-Tech tune and data logger. Testing was done with a full tank of 91 octane and our Spark has about 6 hours on it. Temperature was 80 degrees with a dew point of 55 degrees. Elevation is 897 ft.

Stock HO Program Sport Mode Average
5-15 mph: 0.64
5-25 mph: 1.34
5-35 mph: 2.29
5-45 mph: 4.18
5-50 mph: 9.59
Top Speed: 50.33 mph

V-Tech 8350 Program Sport Average
5-15 mph: 0.63
5-25 mph: 1.30
5-35 mph: 2.15
5-45 mph: 3.80
5-50 mph: 6.55
Top Speed: 51.03 mph

V-Tech 402 Program Sport Average
5-15 mph: 0.64
5-25 mph: 1.28
5-35 mph: 2.12
5-45 mph: 3.75
5-50 mph: 6.15
Top Speed: 51.60 mph

So the Beta 402 tune seems to be the best so far. I need to find someone local with a stock 60hp model to get some runs done to show how it compares.

For the graph:
Dark Blue: Beta 402 8500
Green: 8350 80 33 AGR
Red: Stock HO Sport Mode
Pink: Stock HO Touring Mode

Excellent information! You can really see the gains between 45-50mph, on the stats taken from the solas impeller test the results are very similar. Very interested to see how the tune+solas performs.

There is definitely an improvement in acceleration from the 402 tune to the stock HO program. It is noticeable from an idle because its harder to keep the nose down and keep the pump hooked up while stabbing the throttle from an idle. So thats probably why the times aren't showing it.

If it's harder to keep the nose down and the pump hooked what good is the added acceleration from idle? Seems like a waste to me. I'm buying the Solas impeller so I actually get a benefit from expending money.

It's all about fun factor and riding style. Why do some people drive vehicles that you can't stab the throttle without breaking the tires loose?

For playing around and jumping waves, the fun factor is definitely increased with the V-Tech tune.

Jdog, everything was stock besides the V-Tech tune. So the stock flame arrestor and exhaust baffle were still installed.

I did get my wife to put her HO in sport mode and do a drag race. My vtech if I feathered the throttle could match her on takeoff and both would get to top speed very close to each other with a slight edge to the vtech . Both revved to 7950rpm. Mine speedo said 49mph and her gps speedo said 51. She would just ever so slowly walk away from the vtech . I attribute that completely to me weighing 150 pounds more than her.
So after all is said and done the sport mode on the HO Id say is pretty darn good and would never buy a vtech tuner for it . But if you have an insult of a 60hp you need a vtech tuner . Even just to put the HO map in it. Or trade in the 60 when a HO becomes available. Personally I just love the way the vtech tune makes low speed jumping ,doughnuts and wave jumping that much more fun than the HO even if it still has the same top speed. It allows for tricks where you need instant thrust that the HO map is a tad too soft to do.

Great info.. I have the 60 and seeing that the 90 is as great as everyone is saying I really need to get the vtech tuner

My Spark started as a 60hp and was tuned before it hit the water ...

It has seen 20hrs of track , ocean bashing and cruising time and no issues ...

Spoke to J from V Tech and when he sees summer , there will be more tunes ...

But the 402 is the pick by far ...

How much HP did the 402 tune take you to? I have the 60 and looking to tune mine, just not sure I want to void the warranty unless it's worth it.

Hi..Just tuned my 60hp spark with the V-tech 202 8500 test tune. (The tunes have been updated since the beta 402 days) I have also installed a R & D intake. My goal is to emulate the performance of my beloved 1999 seadoo spx that was setup perfect. It would run solid 55mph all day long. The spark is faster out of the hole but tops out at 8250 rpm in the water and stops at 50mph. This was done in perfect conditions ( 62 degrees, water 59, no wind clear glassy lake mead with 185lb rider) I don't know why it will only turn 8250 with an 8500 tune? I really want to get 53 to 55 mph out of this thing. Will a solas prop help? intake grate? Really need some help.
